Easy Senate Score Chart 2006

IN 2006, RUSS FEINGOLD (75%)  OF WISCONSIN IS IN FIRST PLACE.  ALL OTHER SENATORS ARE BELOW 70%
COMPARE THIS WITH DENNIS KUCINICH'S 100% SCORE ON THE HOUSE CHART.
ANYONE WITH A SCORE BELOW 50% IS NO FRIEND OF HUMAN RIGHTS.

How the score is calculated:

Home Run (H Run):  This Senator took a stand for the American people. +10 points

AWOL: This Senator was AWOL when the American people needed him/her to take a stand.  – 5 points. This does not apply to cloture votes.

NH: This stands for no harm.  Those who fail to vote against cloture don't have the courage of those who do take a stand but their votes counts with the "nay" votes in a cloture motion.  Therefore, unless a home run requires a vote for cloture on an issue, NH counts as 0.

STR for Strike: This Senator voted or agreed to an outcome harmful to the American people, freedom and/or democracy. -10 points

F: This stands for Fraud.  This applies to Senators who vote one way when it matters and another way when it makes no difference. An example is when they vote for cloture on a bill or nomination and then vote against the nomination in circumstances where the only chance to stop a bill or nominee was through a fillibuster.  In an election year, Senators like to argue meaningless votes and mislead their public into fogetting that they voted the other way when it mattered.  An F will be placed after the total of all Senators who do this on the chart that contains the vote wherein they pull this.  The Fs will also be counted on the final total of the final chart at the end of the year..

Total Score: The accumulated points to date on major votes/consents.

Human Rights Percentage or HR%: Current percentage of Senator from bottom to top of chart, rounded to the nearest whole number.

The vote descriptions link to the top of the chart, and each column header and footer links back to the description for that date.

Votes/Consents counted this page:
.
6/8/06: Roll Call 164 was the vote on cloture on HR 8 (the bill to permanently eliminate any taxes on estates of the super rich).  The new tax structure transfers the taxes to the lower and middle classes while letting the rich get off with no taxes.  The fact that the cloture vote was unsuccessful means that there is hope that things will be fairer in the future.
6/13/06:  This was the vote to commend the armed services for a bombing that killed innocent people and children and reportedly resulted in the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a person unlikely ever to have existed and who was reported killed three times previously. Michael Berg, whose son was reportedly killed by al-Zarqawi, condemned the attack and expressed sorrow over the innocent people and children killed in the bombing.
6/15/06A: Roll Call 171 was the vote on the conference report on HR4939, a bill that gives warmongers more money to continue the killing and massacre of innocent people in Iraq and allows profiteers to collect more money for scamming the people of New Orleans.
6/15/06B: Roll Call 172 was the vote to authorize activities to overthow the government of Iran.  This was in the form of a Senate Amendment ot the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007.
6/15/06C: Roll Call 174 was a motion to table a proposed amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would have required the withdrawal of US. Armed Foceces from Iraq and would have urged the convening of an Iraq summit.
6/19/06:  Roll call 175 was the the vote to confirm Sandra Segal Ikutu, another opponent of human rights, to the 9th Circuit, in an effort to eliminate moderate decisions that take human rights into account.
6/21/06:  Roll Call 179 was the vote on the Kennedy Amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act.  The NDAA, which funds continued human rights violations, was likely to pass and the admendment called for a minimum wage increase.
6/22/06A:  Roll Call 181 was the vote on the Kerry Amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act. The amendment, which was rejected, would have brought our trrops home and ended the fighting.
6/22/06B:  RollCall 183 was the cloture vote on (the last effective chance to stop) the National Defense Authorization Act, which provided massive amounts of funding to defense contractors to continue the killing in Iraq.
6/22/06C:  Roll Call 186 was the vote to pass the Nationial Defense Authorization Act, continued war funding.
