Christina Avalos, 40th Congressional District  Candidate Speech for the Department of Peace January 8, 2006        I wish to thank the Patrick Henry  Democratic Club for all the work you do in moving us in the right  direction.  We honor your courage for truth.        I am advocating for the Department of  Peace and I am dedicated in helping to establish the Dept. of Peace to see it  working in our lifetime.        We all know war is not the only form  of violence.  From greed to fear, one only has to turn on the T.V., pick up  a newspaper, listen to the radio, or log on to web-sites such as, the  peacealliance.org who provide studies & statistics on both war and other  forms of violence.        These are the issues that come  between us and them.  These are the issues that can only be addressed  through Resolution.  Peace based on Resolution and Resolution based on  Peace is moving in the right direction.        For this bill to pass, both houses  need to vote yes on it.  I am voting yes on this bill when I am elected to  congress.  This is why I am here to day, to help achieve this in our  lifetime, I am collecting signatures to be placed on the ballot to represent you  so that your votes are heard across the nation as moving in the right  direction.   Thank you.
